Supreme Court of Pakistan has banned 24 mineral water brands in the country. The distribution of 24 Pakistani mineral water brands has been stopped due o the provision of unhealthy water.

Mian Saqib Nisar, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) has chaired a meeting comprised of three members. During meeting, CJP was presented with the report on the details of provision of clean water to the people.

The representatives of accused companies have claimed that companies are providing safe and healthy water to the public. The defendant of the company said, “The court can summon the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PCSQA) report if required.”

Mian Saqib Nisar said that Supreme Court will not change its decision about the companies. “Companies should have the consciousness to provide clean water, we have to care for the people and the children,” he added.

Supreme Court then made decision and ordered 24 companies to stop providing water. The hearing has been postponed to the unspecified time period.

However, it is the responsibility of intended companies to provide safe and healthy water to the public. This step by Supreme Court might help public to have pure drinking water and to get rid of culprits providing unhealthy water.
