Sindh to initiate life skills based education for Grade 6-9 students
Sindh is to start life skills education to the students of grade 6-9. Sindh Education Department made an announcement via its official Twitter acount about the Sindh government’s approval of life skills education for the secondary students.
Sindh Education Department mentioned in their post that life skills education will be imparted to the students of eight different districts of the province. These districts are as follows:
However, government of Sindh is also struggling to add life skills education at the primary level as well. In this regard, the Sindh Education Department requested civil society, parents, ulema and teachers to come up with the content which includes the issues of the Pakistani cultures.
The notification circulated stated that, “Life skills based education content includes 19 modules which teach children to be able to protect themselves, personal hygiene, nutrition, human rights, protection from disease such as hepatitis, and that a boy and girl are equal and have equal rights. This information is critical if we want to move forward with social development and build a society, which is safer for our children and to prevent further tragedies like Kasur.”
The basic motive behind the initiative stated is that students may get aware of the issues and become capable enough to protect themselves.
