State Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and 1-link to develop a program which will enable the public to pay their taxes via ATMs or internet banking. In this regard a consent has been signed among SBP and FBR.
Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar chaired the signing ceremony. During ceremony, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Mr. Humayun Akhtar Khan was also present.
Reports revealed that the facility of payment of taxes through internet banking will be available throughout the week. The mechanism includes that all the banks will add FBR (Inland Revenue) and FBR (Customs) as Billers in their Billers Module. In this way an interface would be be developed with 1-Link.
Once the system will be available, public would be able to fill FBR (IRS) which includes the tax and custom duty payment details & Customs (WeBOC) online modules. After filling the required documents, a payment slip IS (PSID) would be generated.
The generated PSID will ease the user to access the details of tax or custom duty payment on the web page of bank. After which taxpayer would be able to pay tax by debiting his/her account to the government account in SBP BSC.
The process of paying taxes via ATM or internet banking will be online. Banks are advised to develop the system within two month which means the program is expected to be operational by the end of December 2017.
