Google honours Legendary Noor Jehan through Doodle

Famous search engine, Google is paying tribute to melody queen Noor Jehan on her 92nd birthday. The tribute is being paid to Pakistani singer by Google while unveiling her doodle.

Google revealed doodle with following words: “[The] Doodle captures Jehan’s unique singing stance — her chin tilted up, her hand flung out, and a flower in her hair. Happy Birthday, Madam.”

Madam Noor Jehan was born in a musician family in Kasur on 21st September 1925. At age of 5, Noor Jehan she started singing both traditional folk and pop. Her outstanding performances at rural taka theater encouraged her to migrate Calcutta. Her recognition in bigger stage soon led her to bigger screen i.e. silver screen.

After the Independence of Pakistan, Melody Queen migrated to Pakistan. She was honored with Pakistan President Award by Gen. Ayub Khan in 1965. She was also awarded with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

She died on 23 December 2000.
