Telenor Pakistan to develop its own Cloud Network
Telenor Pakistan becomes the first telecommunication company to develop its own Cloud Network. The step is taken to improve the ICT sector of country. Telenor has made its first successful 3G voice call & LTE data call test on its newly introduced Cloud Network.
The step made Telenor Pakistan’s first cellular operator who has in-house Cloud platform. This move will ease in digital transformation of ICT sector of country.
VNF solutions, which play key role for Telenor’s network transformation are implemented by company. These solutions are implemented by company by using telco cloud technology from Nokia, including Nokia’s AirFrame data center solution and OpenStack-based Nokia CloudBand software, and ZTE’s virtualized MSS and virtualized PGW functions.
However, the Cloud is not fully developed yet. After the full development of Cloud, the response time to customers will be improved. Company will continue improving the platform for its customers.
Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Technology Officer, Telenor Pakistan said: “I consider development and successful testing of our own Cloud network as a huge stride toward our network virtualization goals, and this is just the beginning of a whole new era.”
