Only four Pakistani universities made it in top 1,000 in World University Ranking
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings revealed that only four Pakistani universities made place to the top 1,000. However ranking is disappointing for Pakistan because it shows downgrade as compared to list of last year.
Name of the Universities:
Name of the universities in top 1000 are as follows:
- Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU)
- COMSATS Institute of Information Technology
- National University of Science and Technology (NUST)
- University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
Out of four universities, only Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) is among top 500 universities. In last year’s rankings, QAU was in 601-800 group whereas by improving its position now it is in 401-500 group. COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and NUST are ranked in 601-800 band and University of Agriculture Faisalabad is among 801-1000 group.
Rankings of international universities:
Oxford University holds the first position in the rankings while Cambridge University is at second position and California Institute of Technology and Stanford University are marked at third position. Other top ten varsities are Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Princeton University, Imperial College London, University of Chicago, ETH Zurich and University of Pennsylvania.
Other than that 60 Chinese, 30 Indian and 11 Iranian universities are holding place in top 1000.
The universities are evaluated on the base of THE’s balanced range of thirteen different performance metrics which covers all the aspects of the educational institutes including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
