HEC may suspend engineering programme at 14 universities
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) are in discussion, may finish engineering programmes at fourteen varsities due to not meeting with the international standards.
According to reports, those universities which are not complying with international standards and are having poor teaching system might first be warned to improve their standard.
An official said, “The decision has been taken to maintain the teaching standards at engineering institutions, at par with international level, especially after Pakistan became the member of Washington Accord.”
According to reports, an official said that if universities would fail to comply with international standards then they would have to face strict decision.
Along with Pakistan, almost 19 universities are member of the Washington Accord. The degrees of students from member countries of Washington accord would be accepted in 60 countries across the globe.
