Punjab University to offer MBBS and BDS programmes from this year
Punjab University (PU) is to commence classes for bachelor’s level medical programme from the academic session 2017. PU’s Academic Council has approved MBBS and BDS programmes. Punjab University will follow the curriculum taught in King Edward Medical University (KEMU).
In this regard, a meeting was conducted by Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir. PU Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, heads of academic departments and professors were also present during meeting.
According to officials, PU has filed application to Pakistan Medical and Dental Colleges and after the approval of application medical programmes (HEC Level-6, 7 & 8 and PMDC level-1, 2, 3 & 4) would be offered. These programmes would be offered under the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of Punjab University.
During meeting, Nursing College has also been approved. VC of Punjab University while addressing meeting said that administration of institute has aimed to set up State-of-the-art medical college and hospital. During meeting many other agendas regarding the revision of curriculum has also been approved.
