15 colleges of Islamabad to offer four year graduate programme
Fifteen colleges of capital to start offering four year bachelors programme in various subjects in next academic sessions.
After the announcement of HEC to cancel two years bachelors programme, many colleges of Islamabad Capital Territory has planned to offer four years graduate programme from upcoming academic sessions.
HEC directed universities to stop commencing for BA or BSc programmes after the academic year 2018 while those for MA and MSc programmes would be end after 2020.
Many universities of country are already offering 4 year bachelor’s programmes which ensure 16 years of education at graduation level. However for master’s level, some universities of Pakistan will offer MA MSc and MPhil ensuring eighteen years of education while others offer it to ensure 16 years of education.
Various committees have been setup by almost 15 colleges of Islamabad to finalize the formalities of four years bachelors programme. In this regard, these committees are meeting the officials of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad and colleges affiliated with ICT to begin this programme.
A meeting was conducted in this regard and it was decided that colleges will not continue both the programmes. In meeting it was said that many of the colleges of capital are prepared to begin the programme in upcoming academic sessions. However, 15 colleges have submitted the list of programmes they will offer for 4 year programme.
During meeting, fees is also fixed for different academic programmes. For science subjects, Rs.20,000 fees is fixed for first semester while Rs.13,000 for rest semesters. While for the arts subjects, Rs.17,000 is fixed for first semester and Rs.10,000 for rest of seven semesters.
Colleges will charge Rs 9,979 for library and degree fees.
