HEC awards 31 projects to PhD scholars
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has awarded 31 projects to PhD scholars under Technology Development Fund (TDF).
Projects were awarded to the doctorates at the ceremony organized by HEC at its secretariat. During ceremony Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms was the chief guest.
The projects are established for PhD scholars returning from abroad after completing their degree to initiate new technologies in the country.
Iqbal said that to join world’s 25 leading economies Pakistan has to develop innovative technologies. Iqbal admired the efforts of HEC for the development of faculty.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, HEC chairman briefed that Technology Development Fund (TDF) got 116 proposals from different scholars. HEC expert committee made evaluation and 31 projects were picked up by them for PhD scholars, HEC chairman said.
Ahmed further briefed that out of 31, 9 projects are for field of Information Technology, 8 in food science and technology and 7 are of agriculture engineering. Ten projects are acquired by University of Agriculture Faisalabad and five projects are secured by National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad.
Each approved project will be given with grant of worth Rs.14 million.
