In 2018, Pakistan to add 556.6 MW solar into the system

Pakistan to add 556.6 MW of solar energy by the end of 2018. Currently, 956.8 MW of solar is under the process of development at 28 different locations within the country.

According to reports, 40% of the community of Pakistan is not attached with the national grid of country.

Pakistan import electricity to fulfill its needs. At present, Pakistan imports 100 MW of electricity from Iran.

Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) said that by the end of 2019, 484 MW of solar photovoltaic projects are expected to come online.

Additionally there are various other projects which are in progress including 50MW installation in Chakwal which is expected to be operational by March 2018. Two projects of 50 MW in Sindh near Nooriabad are also under process and will be working by July 2018.

Last year, 410 MW of solar capacity had been added by the Pakistan, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) reported.

Earlier, CM Punjab approved to install solar system on 20,000 schools of the province.
