Freelancing is on the rise in Pakistan, earnings reach $ 1b

In the world of online freelancing, Pakistan is among top four countries of the world which have the highest number of freelancers.

Punjab IT board chairman disclosed that there are almost 150,000 online freelancers in Pakistan which are earning $1 billion revenue. He further said that Pakistan is holding a place among top 4 positions of world highest online freelancers without any government support.

The main hurdle in reaching the potential of online freelancing is a lack of literacy in digital and conventional. The digitally literate freelancers have potential to operate through their smartphones. Therefore, the government should allow schools to provide digital literacy in educational institutes.

Sharing economy can help Pakistani freelancers in the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in different ways.

In the early years, many small businesses keep their budget very high and this is the reason for the failure of startups. Money can be saved by turning the unused assets into money and by not buying things that you need. To enhance the economic growth, digit market is one of the great opportunities.

Along with freelancing and sharing economy, one can easily earn more through (online shopping). Global e-commerce is estimated to help more in earning than conventional commerce.

Hence ICTs and the internet can bring magnificent change in the economy of our country.
