Government is all set to auction the last 4G spectrum
According to reports, government gears up to auction the last 4G spectrum of mobile internet in May-June at a minimum rate of $210m.
According to the survey conducted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), a healthy competition is expected to be at the auction.
According to officials, Telenor will not participate in the auction as it recently bought 4G spectrums for $395m and its only focus is to cut down its costs.
Different recommendations regarding auction have been sent by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to the cabinet for approval.
Being an authority, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is taking a huge interest in the auction. He told that cabinet will approve the recommendation without any delay.
Approval by the cabinet will be given to PTA for the beginning of the process.
According to sources, it’s been the third auction since 2014, and the government has earned almost $1.5 billion from last to auctions.
