The new technology will self-destruct phone after being stolen
Researchers at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia have given the solution to your stolen gadgets. They have introduced new mechanism of self-destruction of phone after being stolen.
Researchers claimed that technology can easily be accessed and installed on modern devices and it works quickly. The technology will aid in defending your device’s sensitive data from thieves.
This technology can destroy electronics within 10 seconds wirelessly or by triggering.
The technology consists of an expandable polymer, which would crumple the chip of device within seconds. Heater electrodes which are involved in drawing power from the battery of device activate the polymer. Then polymer expands to seven times to its original size when heated to 80°C (176°F).
This expanding polymer then destroys the silicon chip up to 90 micrometers thick or less than 0.1mm.
According to researchers if the GPS of the device would be switched on, it could activate the self-destruct mechanism when the gadget is taken out from the building.
Researchers told that the self-destruct mechanism could also be activated in the password-enabled app. The mechanism costs as $15.
