Teacher from Pakistan is nominated for $1M global award
Salma Begum is a Pakistani teacher belongs from Gilgit Baltistan, is selected from 20,000 applications from around the world. Salma is in list of top ten finalists for the Global Teacher Prize.
The Global Teacher Prize is a reward of $1Million given annually to the teacher who has made his best to provide education to the students.
The prize is given to acknowledge the teachers for motivating them to gain best results in future. Since 1992, she has been teaching in an elementary school at Gilgit Baltistan.
Additionally Begum has instructed about 7000 teachers in Gilgit Baltistan and almost 8000 teachers across the Pakistan.
She is currently serving as a head teacher at her school. Students from her school performed very well during official examination.
Begum aims to inculcate good ethical, moral and social behaviors in her students. She along with her student designed a project to produce organic fertilizers which went successful.
The winner for the Global Teacher Prize will be announced at Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai on March 19.
