Avalanche struck Chitral and killed 14 people
14 people died when Avalanche strikes Chitral recently Sunday morning. There were six children as well. The Scouts of Chitral Commandant Col Nizamuddin Shah told that 14 bodies were recovered. At least 25 houses were destroyed, and five houses are destroyed. Six children, six women, and two men were killed. Many people were affected by this. However, it is still unclear that how many people were affected by an avalanche.
The district of Chitral Nazim Maghfirat Shah told Dawn that it is due to the heavy snowfall. Most of the families shifted to safer locations while due to lack of facilities some families remained in the locality and got affected.
At least seven security officers were injured when the second avalanche struck security check posts in Arundo near Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Heavy snowfall blocks the main roads due to which injured were not taken to the headquarters for immediate treatment according to the police officials. The injured were given treatment in the small medical centers nearby.
