1km Metro investment is more than entire tech and science sector
Have you heard that Government is spending funds again on the metro bus route? The budget is more than the allocated to the educational institutes especially in the Ministry of Science and Technology department. The budget was revealed recently in Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology, which was organized along with Osman Saifullah Khan. The Chairman of Committee vowed to take action in the upcoming session and will emphasize the matter, as it is important.
The Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain admits that the sector is not under the priority of Government. Recently Pakistan is spending at least 0.29 percent of GDP, which makes it in 87th position.
The COMSATS University Islamabad Bill has been discussed in Committee along with the Pakistan Council of Science and Technology Bill 2016 and Pakistan National Accreditation Council Bill 2016. The Ministry of Science and Technology have taken proper measures for the popularization of Science in Pakistan.
Ministry also explained the Bill of COMSATS Islamabad and said that bill is necessary for upgrading the University. The university will have its senate and general supervision of the affairs of University. Bill is important and needs to be discussed in every meeting.
However, the committee expressed the anger on the Law and Justice Division and observed the amendments in Bill. COMSATS is a University, which provides great opportunities and studying facilities to students including scholarships. The chairperson of Committee directs to submit the original draft of the bill within 10 days.
The famous educationist Musharaf Zaidi presented and briefed the committee along with informational materials. He emphasized to allocate different developmental funds, which will improve the standard f education in Pakistan. The ministry has informed that funds for developmental projects will be raised.
