Uber Careem to take fitness certificate to resume their operations in Karachi : Transport Minister

The notice by the Punjab Government has been issued to the ride-hailing service Uber and Careem. They will be banned shortly in Lahore, but according to the recent news, the services has been given a halt and banned in Karachi.

Sindh Government has taken the legal action on these companies on Tuesday and declared that private cars could not provide these services. PTA has blocked the Careem mobile app.

Transport Secretary said that he wrote more than five letters to Careem service management but received no reply. The government has also taken the step against Uber service. According to the Transport Secretary, private cars if needs to provide commercial services they are titled as Taxis. Otherwise, owners of cars must have fitness certificates and route permits before using this service.

The Government mentions the service as illegal because Government has to face a huge financial crisis. The ban will be valid in many parts of Punjab.
